Redemption from the Abyss

Standing at a precipice

Flanked by twin stone light posts

I saw the red and black

Diamond back snake

Disappearing

Down into the abyss

Freefalling face first

No time to think

With my instinct

Instantly I chose

And dove

In pursuit to

Redeem the snake

Casting myself head first

Into the abyss

Fearless with only

Wind and darkness

Around me

Until I felt

The tail of the body

Gripped securely

By my left hand

After which I turned

Round by force of will upward

To rise from the depths

Bringing with me

The serpent that had been cast

Down to the abyss

Back up toward

The light
